Moving with the Mind: 5 Rhythms Dance Class & Workshop

with Jade Blackadar

Date: Sunday, August 13th, 2017 Time: 11:00a – 3:30p
Normal Heights- East Room

This event is open to all levels. No previous experience needed, just your curiosity & a desire to shake things up.

Class: 11a-1p
In this 2-hour class, we will ground in and focus on embodiment of the self using the 5Rhythms map. An invitation to be you as you are, and explore what is calling your attention in your dance.

Moving With The Mind Workshop: 1:30 – 3:30p
This will be a deeper dive into yourself. I am noticing a lot lately how the mind can create separation & pain for us, whether it be separation in the self, or separation from others. It can create many barriers, blocks & judgements that keep us from staying connected to our hearts and living more truly who we really are. In this workshop we will be moving a lot, writing a little, and exploring patterns & pathways within ourselves. Connecting the body with the mind to be in more of a supportive relationship within ourselves so that our awareness can grow. And our actions can align more with our intuition, understanding & hearts, rather than our minds thoughts, calculations, and patterns that may no longer be serving us.

Please bring water, a light snack/lunch & journal & pen.

Class: 11a-1p

Foundations of Lu Jong Tibetan Healing Yoga

with Farrah Garan

Date: Sunday, October 22nd, 2017 Time: 11:00a-1:00p
Normal Heights

Rooted in Tibetan Medicine, Lu Jong is an ancient practice from the Tantrayana Buddhist tradition developed for self-healing. This comprehensive series of 21 movements releases blockages on the physical, mental and energetic levels. It is a very practical and accessible method for boosting health and happiness, and has profound spiritual benefits as well.

Combining rhythmic movements with smooth breathing, Lu Jong targets specific points on the subtle body channels, massaging them to be more open and reestablishing the free flow of the blood, breath and energy. It includes exercises for the spine, joint mobility, organ function and common imbalances, such as poor digestion, the senses and depression.

This workshop combines practice and theory. Learn a complete 15-min movement sequence that nurtures the spine—the root of our health—and balances the five elements, which are the foundation of a functional body and mind. Participants will also learn about the subtle body, principles of Tibetan Medicine, five elements theory and Tantrayana Buddhism. All ages, abilities and beliefs welcome.
